Great Accommodations

Situated in the picturesque tourist town of Waterval Boven in Mpumalanga, and right in the heart of the Elands River Valley lies the Stone Circle Bistro. Originally the brain-child of scientist and explorer Michael Tellinger, the Bistro has evolved into a haven for hungry travelers and enquiring minds.

Sean Ward, the Chef/Patron of the Bistro, has over 30 years experience in the industry and has created a menu which is simple yet enticing and has a strong emphasis on excellent value!

Attached to the Stone Circle Bistro is the Stone Circle Ruins Museum, showcasing artifacts from the numerous ancient stone city ruin sites scattered throughout the foothills that surround the town, and the local Reservations Office, which provides information on the many activities and sight-seeing opportunities in and around the Highlands, especially the Stone Circe ruins and Adam's Calendar -- an ancient monolithic site located 35km away.

There is also a second-hand bookshop in the Bistro, which only adds to the homely atmosphere, and a sports bar which plays home to some of the more colourful Boven characters you're likely to meet! The Elands River runs along the bottom of the property and is the perfect setting for a romantic picnic!

In addition to the great food and warm service, the Bistro also hosts a number of regular events during the week -- a Coffee Club every Thursday night, where members get together to discuss topics of interest; a Lunchtime Cooking Demonstration on the last Wednesday of every month where Sean Ward amuses and amazes lookers-on with his creative flair in the kitchen; a village dance every Friday and Saturday night, often with a theme and always loads of fun; and a Sunday lunchtime buffet with live music every Sunday.
